The light-hearted style in the color choices and text convey the off-the-wall humor and feel of the book. This also directed my choice of hand-drawn typography.

Imagery from the book includes bombs and flames which represent the fire-bombing of Dresden during WWII—a pivotal event for the main character. The flying saucer and alien are in reference to the alien abduction of the main character.

The book is photographed in a location that had a cold, industrial feel to represent a slaughterhouse. I avoided bloody imagery to match the tone of the book.

The phrase “So it goes” is often repeated throughout the book and become a theme.
