For this packaging project I created a luxury brand based on my favorite opera singer Elīna Garanča. Elīna is very elegant and has an incredible, rich voice. I wanted to create a brand that communicated the characteristics I see in her.

It was important to use materials that would feel substantial in your hands and feel lovely to touch. I used satin, velvet, and solid walnut.

I tried to pay attention to every detail and use fine craftsmanship such as wrapping the grain around the walnut box.

This packaging is designed to create an unforgettable experience for a new card holder receiving their new charge card.

The outer box is made from a double thickness of heavyweight chipboard which is covered in black satin. The inside of the lid is lined with a marbled paper. The lid closes with a magnet clasp which provides a satisfying, muted click.

There is a velvet insert that slides into this box to hold the walnut jewelry box in place. Two notches afford easy access for fingers to remove each item. A glossy, black envelope perfectly nests on the top, containing a small welcome booklet with all the fine print.

Removing the envelope reveals a beautiful walnut jewelry box. Inside is the card, tucked into a velvet cushion like a piece of fine jewelry. The card is solid metal with substantial heft, it will turn heads every time it is used.

The packaging is designed to be reused and enjoyed by the recipient.
